member of several academic and service-based fraternities. In May 2006 she earned her master’s degree in performance from UW-Madison where she studied modern flute with Stephanie Jutt and Baroque flute with Jeanne Swack. When she's not playing the flute, Kim works as a software trainer and serves on the planning committee for the annual WI Flute Festival.
Melissa Ludois grew up in the Chicago Northwest suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois where she began playing the flute at age of nine.I n 2006 She earned a bachelor of Music in Music Education from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois where she studied with Dr. Kyle Dzapo.
While as an undergrad, she was a 2005 Bradley University Concerto/Aria Winner and was awarded the Sword of Honor from the Woman's Music Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota. After graduation, Melissa worked as an assistant band director in Maple Grove, IL at Kaneland High School; then in 2007 made the big move up to Madison to teach K-8 general music at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Elementary. She joined the Madsion Flute Club in 2007 and is also a member of the Madison Wind Ensemble and the Middleton Community Orchestra. When Melissa is not fluting, she enjoys spending time with her husband Dan, watching movies, or doing various craft projects.
Assistant Artistic Director
The Madison Flute choir is a year-round flute choir of 20+ adult flutists performing on piccolo, alto, and bass flute, in addition to the traditional C-flute. The ensemble performs regularly in the Madison area.
Membership
Membership in the choir is open to adult flutists with several years of playing experience.
