The Madison Flute Club began in the summer of 2002 as an adult extension class at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The class continued into the spring but was canceled when the instructor moved to Italy to be married.

The flute choir continued to meet weekly at the home of one of the members. Through advertising, performances, and word of mouth, the group soon outgrew the living room space. With almost 30 members, the flute choir now rehearses weekly year-round at the Midvale Community Lutheran Church.

The Madison Flute Club is now a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization and a member of the National Flute Association.

To provide educational information of interest and importance to flutists

To promote educational events, such as concerts, master classes, exhibits, and workshops featuring flutes.

To provide the association of persons interested in the flute and its music in an educationally supportive environment.

To promote the performance of flute music.

To provide ensemble opportunities particularly for adult flutists in south-central Wisconsin.
