Evan Carlson, who turned 18 last month is a homeschooled senior who has studied piano for eleven years, and has been composing for about six years.  His musical interests vary across all genres with his particular favorite being film scores. He has had the opportunity to study music composition at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Composer’s Summer Program in 2004, as well as the NFMC sponsored Junior Composers Camp the last two summers. He has also collaborated with several of his friends to produce and score a number of original amateur films in the interest of gaining more experience composing. He is very excited to have his piece, “Idylls of the King” performed at the Madison Flute Festival.
